OUR APPROACH
KASI Insight relies on the biggest grassroots network of data hubs to reach the urban middle class of Africa. In other words, each of the consumer responses we deliver result from an actual encounter with the consumer by any of our extended hubs.
Since our beta launch in 2015, we have collected close to 1.5 million responses and worked on a wide range of projects in the areas of mobile banking, shopping habits, ad campaign testing, brand tracking, gap analysis, opinion polling, sensitivity and satisfaction, product usage, business concept validation, lending, and mobile app usage in the biggest countries in Africa.

CEO & Founder
Yannick has a background in banking, data and statistical analysis with a focus on financial services, telecom and engineering. Prior to KASI, he worked for the top big financial firms in Canada leading teams of risk managers. He also consulted corporates and investors on investment and research in Africa. He is a Cum Laude graduate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa and also a Professional Risk Manager (PRM holder)

Operations Director
Based in Nairobi, Martin is an engineer by training and brings 9 years of experience in Africa working on telcos infrastructure setup. Martin oversees our day to day operations in Africa including project execution, partnerships and talent acquisition.

Carole Gilbert
Legal Counsel
Carole Gilbert is building a broad practice in all aspects of corporate and commercial law and banking and finance. Ms. Gilbert worked as a geologist in gold, uranium and iron ore exploration in Canada, Australia, Mali and Guyana. She provides valuable legal counsel to our team as part of the Norton Fullbright innovation practice.

Dr. Edwin Weinstein, PhD
President – The Brondesbury Group
Over the past 30 years, Ed has developed and run more than 600 studies in financial services for both private and public sector clients. Ed’s private sector clients have included most of the world’s largest banks, as well as a cross-section of Canadian financial institutions. Ed’s public sector clients have included departments and agencies focused on diverse financial issues including: deposit insurance, trade finance, securities regulation, professional accreditation, international development, investor education, and financial consumer protection. Several of the public sector relationships are long-term advisory relationships including strategy development, research management, and monitoring of achievement of objectives. Ed holds a PhD in Measurement & Evaluation (Applied Statistics) from the University of Toronto and is also a licensed Industrial Psychologist.

Gertrude (Trudi) Makhaya, MBA
CEO Makhaya Advisory
Trudi Makhaya is an independent economist, business strategist and writer. With her rare combination of skills gained in economic regulation in the public sector and in management and economic consulting in the private sector, she is able to offer deep insights into the economy and policy. Trudi holds a MBA and an MSc in Development Economics from Oxford University, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar. She also holds degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, including a MCom in Economics and a BCom (Law). Prior to joining the Commission, Trudi held management consulting and corporate roles at Deloitte, Genesis Analytics and AngloGold Ashanti.

Jasper Grosskurth PhD
Managing Director RSA
Jasper is specialized in African markets and market research. He is Managing Director at Research Solutions Africa Ltd in Nairobi. Jasper is on the advisory board of VC4Africa.biz and intensively coaches Kenyan startups on how understanding their clients and markets at all stages, ranging from idea development to business expansion. Jasper studied International Economic Studies and Psychology at Maastricht University and Trinity College Dublin and holds a PhD in Integrated Assessment from Maastricht University.

Ben White
Founder of VC4Africa
Ben has been working in the African technology and media space since 2003. He started at Africa Report and served as commercial director at Africa Interactive. Ben has done research on the emergence of software cultures in Kampala, Uganda and established the East Africa ICT Entrepreneurship program at Hivos. Ben is a founding member of AfriLabs, a network of technology incubators, is on the board to ActivSpaces, and in 2008 he founded Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A).

Bill Zimmerman

Bill is a software developer and serial entrepreneur having successfully built and sold companies. He is the founder of Cameroon’s leading technology incubator ActivSpaces. Bill is a founding member of AfriLabs, a network of African technology incubators, and is a driving force behind VC4A. Bill previously worked for Microsoft and a Seattle-based startup incubator.
